Nigerian singer Mayorkun, born Adewale Mayowa, has revealed that he intentionally kept his mother’s identity hidden for years because he didn’t want preferential treatment due to her being a popular actress. Mayorkun, known for hits like “Che Che,” expressed that growing up, he and his brother wanted freedom and disliked the attention that came with their mother, Toyin Adewale’s, fame. He even concealed his mother’s identity during his university years, ensuring only close friends who frequently visited his house knew about the connection.
Mayorkun shared these insights during an episode of the Tea With Tay podcast hosted by actor Taymesan.
