Carey who is a US missionary settled down in marriage with Wanyonyi, who can hardly express himself in English since he is a primary dropout.
Carey explained that God told her that Wanyonyi was her anointed husband when he introduced herself to him and therefore she doesn’t care about him being uneducated. “As he was introducing himself, God spoke to me and said, this is your husband and that’s why you never found the right one back at home,” she said. The white woman said she enjoys living with her husband in his village in Bungoma. She added that before she learnt Swahili, they used to communicate through feelings and signs.
The 35-year-old revealed that she fell in love with Tanzania and its people, and one day while walking around, she met a group of Maasais and her would-be-husband Sokoine was among them. “What attracted me to him were his eyes. His calm, steady gaze, which exuded so much peace and confidence. I tried to talk to them in Swahili but they seemed to be in a rush,” she recalled.
